DESCRIPTION: EPW - Les Frères Esquivillon & DeChoudens (Paris, 1765-1830), gold and enamel verge fusee, quarter repeating by two hammers on bell, 36mm, 18K OF original consular case, red basse-taille enamel back with scenic center, paste-set silver bezel top, KWKS, WED, silver openwork hands with pastes, verge escapement, gilt mvt with pierced & engraved foliate scrolled two-footed balance bridge, s#29838. Gross weight of assembled watch 30.5 dwt (47.6 g).
CONDITION: Mvt: NR, chain connected to barrel and fusee but wrapped beneath barrel, shows good balance motion and escapement function with pressure applied to contrate, plates show mint gilding, hardly any oxide on steel components; good repeat function, the hour hammer needs tiny adjustment to contact bell in all positions; dial with complex fracture at 9 to 11; hands excellent; original case shows hardly any wear, one FS and hardly any MFS to perfect enamel panel, no dents or dings, losses to blue field enamel around back border, the front more complete; button latch good; bow & pendant original, the little worn bow pivoting freely; good domed glass crystal.
